The Annual New Mexico Marathon is the largest marathon in the State of New Mexico. If you’re a serious runner, have run a few marathons or this will be your first, the New Mexico Marathon is the one to run!

As an International, National and Local fall event, the 26.2 mile distance is one to be appreciated. The course begins in the shadows of our beautiful Sandia Mountains at 5,800 ft. Runners and walkers wind their way down to the bosque trail in Albuquerque’s North Valley, as the hot air balloons ascend into the beautiful blue skies and the sun rises over the majestic mountains. The course concludes along a tranquil stretch through our scenic North Valley to finish at 4,800 ft. near historic Old Town Plaza.  The event attracts runners and walkers of all abilities, from competitive athletes hoping to set a PR, to those individuals whose goal is to simply finish.

Join us Saturday, September 5th and Sunday, September 6th, 2009 for the Annual New Mexico Marathon, Half-Marathon & 5k Festival. Lace up, look out, because the running fun has just begun!

I love New Mexico, and I loved this marathon!
The high desert scenery is spectacular, the course is very runnable, and all the attention to detail and special touches (festive finish area, lots of food, pottery medal, massages, etc.) were greatly appreciated. Thanks very much for a wonderful experience in the Land of Enchantment!

Small, well run, awesome course (about: 2008)

From the Sandia Mountains to the Rio Grande, there was awesome scenery on the course! Excellent volunteers and a race director that is accessible and will actually talk to you! Nice, calm atmosphere - no artificial rah-rah - AND a hand-crafted medal! Very enjoyable experience. If you're coming from sea level like me, take a few extra days to get used to the higher elevation.
